in japan the cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. like spring, it’s a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also short. when the cherry blossom trees bloom for a short time each year in all their beauty, they serve as a visual reminder of how precious and how precarious life is.
aimee is one of my dearest friends, and when i get to see her, as she passes through, it’s like this cherry blossom bloom. she’s amazing, a single mother raising two brilliant boys, an artist, and an art teacher in the bronx with a commute from connecticut. her sense of humor, deep compassion and awareness of our home called earth. she’s such a talented artist, you can find her work here : www.aimeecavazzi.com
